Hand Pollinated Gourd Seeds

Our hand pollinated gourd seeds are propagated and hand protected before and after pollination under controlled conditions for the purpose of obtaining the best quality and pureness to parent variety.  This guarantees that bumble bees and  insects have not interfere with pollination causing cross pollination resulting in various shaped gourds which you might or might not want. The gourd seeds produced will grow gourds like its parents. This is the only method available to maintain best pureness to parent variety type.

Field Isolated Gourd Seeds

We also sell field isolated produced gourd seeds. This means that  gourds are propagated in semi-controlled conditions by field isolation for the purpose of obtaining the best quality and  pureness to parent variety. This method does not guarantee complete elimination of bees and insects visitation but is the second best method of retaining best pureness to parent variety at a lower cost. 

Hand pollinated gourd seeds are more labor intensive and expense, whereas the field isolated gourd seeds are less labor intensive and less expense. There are many websites that sell seeds and charge top dollar for the less expensive seed.  Many sellers claim to have gourd seeds that are true to type. Be careful when buying gourds seeds from folks claiming this. It is not reasonable to assume that a claim to high standard of purity of seed exist when the process for producing the seed lacks the required control and protection process of hand pollination.
